Public artistic expressions in all forms enrich our community's cultural, economic, educational, and social fabric, benefiting the health and wellness of Oak Harbor's residents and visitors. To enhance economic health and quality of life through public art and programs, the City of Oak Harbor is developing its FIRST Arts Master Plan, from April through October 2024.
The plan will cover the following topics:
1. Inventorying current public art and recommending future opportunities for placemaking and art installations.
2. Developing recommendations for Arts Programs and Cultural Events.
3. Establishing processes for art consignment, artist calls, and best practices to support local artists.
4. Creating an informative arts website to share updates and resources.
5. Outlining policy best practices to inform Arts Commission and City Council decisions on public art.
6. Identifying future funding sources and partnership opportunities.
Your input is invaluable in shaping this initiative. Join us in developing this plan to benefit our community!
